Sarah's School Books

Hi everyone, sorry about the lack of posting. I had to rush down to Christchurch as my mum had a fall. While I was away, Sarah got busy decorating her school books. I picked out a few that feature current Stampin' Up! products.
So here they are:

This photo is a fish from the Sydney aquarium. I love it how the Pink Flamingo DSP match the fish!-This photo is of our cockatiel, Simon. Sarah used the Kiwi Kiss patterns DSP and the Eastern Blooms stamp set-
This photo is of Sarah, Ian and Daniel at the Taronga zoo in Sydney. Sarah used the Urban Oasis DSP. I love it how she made a backround that matches the paper-
Oh, this is Mr Watermelon! Sarah made him while having fruit on a hot summer's day! Sarah made the watermelons with the 1 3/8" circle punch and 1 1/4" circle punch-

Haiti Relief

On 12 January, 2010 a magnitude 7.0 earthquake struck Haiti, leaving in its wake devastation so overwhelming that the Haitian people and their leaders can only look for help from the outside to cope.

From now until 28 February 2010, $2 from every I {Heart} Hearts stamp set you sell will be donated to the American Red Cross’ Haiti Relief and Development Fund. The Red Cross is already well-established in Haiti, and this money will be used to provide immediate relief and long-term support through supplies, technical assistance and other support to help those in need.

Sarah's take on Sweet Sunday

Easel Card

I had seen these easel cards around, and I wanted to make one myself. I really wanted to use the Butterfly Prints stamp set and the Sweet Always designer papers.
Sooo, this is what I came up with:
Supplies Used:
Stamp Sets: Butterfly Prints
Card/Paper: Sweet Always DSP, Chocolate Chip, Pumpkin Pie, Whisper White
Ink: Pumpkin Pie, Regal Rose, Chocolate Chip
Accessories: Scallop Edge punch, Butterfly punch, Build-A-Brad, 1/2" circle punch

Window Card

I was inspired by this Window card on Barb Mullins' website. I used the Dreams du Jour and Fresh Cuts stamp sets. I embellished the front of this card with this tile. To achieve this tile I stamped the image and coloured it in. Then I inked the front with Versa Mark and embossed it with clear embossing powder. Then I heated it with the heat tool. While the card was still wet after the heat tool, I dipped it into the clear embossing powder, heated it with the heat gun. I repeated this step 3 times. This gives a tile like look. Here are the instructions for the Window Card. Barb has a video on it on her web site.

1.Cut 2 pieces of cardstock 4 1/4" and 5 1/2".

2.Score both pieces of card on both sides 4 1/2" and 5".

3.To make the window, line the edge of your 1 3/8" square punch with the 4 1/2" score line. Push the punch as far as it will go and punch out. Move punch across to the 4 1/2" score line on othe side and repeat. Do this to the opposite side of the card as well. This is the front of the card and you can stamp images on this. On the other piece of card stock you can stamp your images .

4. Adhere a piece of acetate to the inside of the window. Fold your score lines so they form a box shape. Put tape on the two outer edges of one piece of card and join the two pieces of card together. Embellish the front.

The other card I used the Illuminations stamp set.

Elegant Baroque

I was invited to a wedding last Saturday. This is the card that I made for the newly married couple. I didn't have to think very hard for which set to use, because Baroque Motifs is such an elegant stamp set. I embossed the swirl, with silver embossing powder, which gave it that stunning effect. I stamped the flowers with Rose Red ink, and added a pearl out of the Pretties kit, which really stepped the card up.
This is a really simple card, but I think it looks quite special.

Welcome Home

My sister has recently moved to London for work, and has just moved into her new apartment. I made her this card as a welcome to her new home. It's really nice getting mail when your away from home. I really enjoyed colouring in the houses with the ink pads and blender pens.
I used the Neighborhood wheel, with lots of different colours.
I added Dazzling Diamonds to the clouds.
For the words, I got a bit tricky! I used the baby words out of Sweet Little Sentiments, which is a level 1 hostess stamp set. I coloured Welcome Home with the marker, and punched it out with the word window punch.

Birthday Wishes

Well, we are back from a relaxing week of camping. We were blessed to have very sunny weather. There was one thunderstorm near the end, but besides that, it was great! Well, I had my birthday while we were away, which was fun. I received this card from Ian (no, he did not make it! Sarah did!) I love the new butterfly set and coordinating punch.
I also received a gorgeous Baroque Motifs card from Daniel and Sarah, its very elegant.
I hope that you all are enjoying the sunny weather and holidays.

January Thank You Notes

Hi everyone, these are January thank you notes. Sarah makes them and I put one in with each order.
We are going away camping tomorrow morning for a week, so I won't be posting for a while.
We will be camping on my birthday, so I am especially hoping for good weather!

Slow Dance

I was emailed this poem last week and often being so busy, I don't take the time to read things like this. But this one got my attention. It was written by a teenage girl in America who had cancer and had six months to live. I thought I'd share it with you because often we are so busy and miss out on those small, but important events in life.
