Chatter Boxes!

Did that get your attention? This is a box that I have made for swapping for the Auckland Stampin' Up' Regionals. I also demonstarted this for a WOW presentation at the regionals.
Inside the box has cards which you can use for conversation starters. The box is small enough to carry aound in your hand bag or have in the car. Great for appointment waiting times and the meal table.

I have put together a tutorial, so you can make one yourself!

Step 1: For the base, I used the cardboard which is in the DSP packets. It is sturdy and has a lovely smooth finish. It is cut at 5 1/4" square and scored 1.5" on all sides.
For the lid I have used Tempting Turquoise card cut at 3 7/8" square and scored 3/4" on all sides.

Step 2: Cut on the score lines, up till where the other score line crosses over it, as shown. Fold all score lines.
Add sticky strip on the corners:

Step 3: Stick the base and lid together:

To decorate, I stamped the large flower from Punched Posies which is the Level 2 Hostess gift from the Summer Mini. I used Rose Red for this. I punched the flower out with the XL Fancy Flower punch. I stamped another flower with Pumpkin Pie ink and punched out the middle with a 1" circle punch. You can also add designer paper to the base of the box.

To make the button, I stamped an image from the Itty Bitty Bits onto Whisper White cardstock. I then punched out the image using one of the coordinating punches out of the Punch Pack. I dotted a tiny bit of Tombo glue around the image and placed the Bitty Button on top. So cute.

Now your ready to create your cards. The Rose Red piece is 2" square and the Whisper White piece is 1 7/8" square. The outline is from the Great Friends stamp set.

I have used the Rose Red marker to write my conversation starters.

Happy Chatting!

Twisted Easel Card Tutorial

Hi there, as promised, I have made the tutorial for the twisted easel card that I posted HERE. I got my instructions from Monica Gale, who is a very talented stamper. Visit her GORGEOUS blog HERE. I have tweaked some of the measurements. Here it is!

Step 1: Cut cardstock at 26 x 13 cm and score in half:

Step 2: Score the left half diagonally:

This is what it will look like: (the middle score line cannot be seen in the photo)

Step 3: Fold both score lines:

Step 4: Decorate! The card will require a raised embellishment to hold the top half in place.

Hope you have a go, and thanks for stopping by!

More Great Friend

I am just loving the Great Friend stamp set from the new spring mini! I have made so many gorgeous things with it.

This first card was so easy to make! The colours are Orchard Opulence and Certainly Celery. I did some ripping at the top of the Certainly Celery. I added some white grosgrain ribbon and tied a piece of Certainly Celery grosgrain ribbon on the top.

I got the second card idea off dawns stamping thoughts, which is such a great blog. It uses a piece of acetate on the front to make the card so unique and special. I changed the card a bit, but the concept is the same. Stampin' Up! does not sell acetate here, but it does in America so I am hoping it will come to NZ soon! I am using the Great Friend stamp set as well as the Oval All stamp set and the Scallop Oval punch which coordinate with each other. The DSP is the new Walk in the Park out of the spring mini.

A Touch of Spring

With the beautiful weather we had this weekend, and the new stamps from the Spring Mini Catalogue I was inspired to head to the craft room and make some cards.

The Great Friends Stamp Set and the Walk in the Park designer paper compliment each other so well. The colours on the first card are: Regal Rose, Baja Breeze and Basic Gray.

This second card is such an easy and simple card to make. For the greeting I used the "Best Yet" level 1 hostess gift stamp set. The colours are: Pretty in Pink, Rose Red and Mellow Moss. I did the "Rock'n Roll" technique on the middle butterfly. It is such a cool technique and it looks great!

1.Ink your stamp up in the lighter colour ink.
2. Roll your stamp in the darker colour ink so that only the edges have the dark ink on.
3. Stamp your image.

I finished the card off by adding some Mellow Moss taffeta ribbon.

I have made more cards using the Spring Mini Catalogue goodies so keep checking in!

Great Friend

I was so excited when Mum's parcel arrived, because I love the Great Friend stamp set. Mum and I got this idea from Dawns Stamping Thoughts.

I got a A5 piece of Baja Breeze card and scored it in half. Then cut off all the card on the front, except for one cm. Then I added a strip of the Walk In The Park DSP. I then scalloped a strip of Whisper White card, and adhered that to the card as well.

On the front I stamped the greeting and leaves from the Great Friend stamp set on a piece of Whisper White cardstock. For the leaves, I used the Baja Breeze ink and stamped onto scrap paper and then onto the Whisper White card, to make it more light and subtle. I used the Basic Gray ink for the greeting. I stamped the butterfly in Regal Rose, cut it out and used a dimensional to pop it up. Then I adhered it to a piece of Basic Gray cardstock.

Bye for now,
Sarah
